Fesenko Friday has a 9'5" standing reach

The good news about this play is that it was a very solid dunk, on a very solid night where the Utah Jazz beat the Dallas Mavericks 97 - 88. More than that, though, was that Kyrylo Fesenko had a very solid game as well -- 8 points (4/5 fg), 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, only 1 turn over, and only 3 fouls in over 15 minutes of action. The Jazz beat Dallas, in a game where we were without Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur -- and to be honest, a lot of that was because Fes locked it down inside.

Of course, there *is* bad news too. The bad news is that this game took place on December 26th, 2008 -- which was four seasons ago. Fes showed some good things when he was here, but was not capable, or available, or offered a serious opportunity to contribute regularly. If he had more games like this, and less non-games perhaps he would still be in the NBA today?

Fesenko Friday elicits a retro Ty Corbin "struggle" face

You may not have been an internet-savvy Jazz fan back in the day, but BasketballJohn took this picture at a 2008 Rocky Mountain Review Summer League game . . . and for some reason it's been on my computer hard drive for years. The story behind this is that Fes was supposed to go into the game, but his Jersey was on inside out. The Jazz had to call a time out. This is, essentially, Fesenko at his best. Like, the blonde dye job isn't even the biggest mistake he made that afternoon; let alone day...

Fesenko Friday Is Awkward

Photo

This is Greg Foster going to the Heat and then back again awkward. Shortly after I posted what was to be the last Fesenko Friday here on SLC Dunk and passed on the torch to Golden State of Mind, the the Warriors and Fess mutually agreed to back out of their one-year deal. Then it was reported he could end up in Dallas and that hasn't happened yet. So, here we are with another Fesenko Friday.

I'm not sure what Fess is up to other than playing Original Ganstaz on Facebook. Hopefully he gets signed somewhere quickly because the well is drying up picture-wise. #FesenkoFriday is growing though with a shout out from Amazon MP3 of all places proclaiming #FesenkoFriday.

So let's do this again. Let's read your best and remember to req your favorites.

Fesenko Friday Takes A Bow

via Gleb Dokuken

It's time for your final caption contest featuring your favorite Warriors big man. That's a bit sad to type. The team has lost so many fan favorites over the past couple of seasons. We'll always have a fan favorite or two but with Fesenko's departure, it's just another reminder of the closing of the old era.

After today's Fesenko Friday, the keys to the machine will be handed to the good folks at Golden State of Mind where they're eager to keep the torch burning. Thanks to all of your contributions to Fesenko Friday in the past. Click through and let us know which was your favorite.

So let's read your best and remember to rec your favorites.
