The Utah Jazz face off against the New York Knicks in 30 mins from now. Seriously. I'm not organized enough to have a flashy game thread up in time for something like an East Coast Game -- and I live in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. Man. Knicks will be playing without Amar'e Soudemire who lost his brother. I expect the Knicks to play with a lot of heart as a result.
No major injuries for the Jazz, Knicks w/o Amar'e, but also without Baron Davis and Josh Harrellson

Should be a fun game
Even without Stat it’ll be a tough game—road games will always be challenging. More so tonight because of the venue. Actually looking forward to watching Lin Mania up close.
allen aoki - February 6, 2012
FYI, you put game 19 as the title of the GT
Bebop - February 6, 2012
good eye. fixed, thanks!
AllThatJazzBasketball - February 6, 2012
And on another note,
poor Hayward is going to get owned tonight.
Bebop - February 6, 2012
I think the bulk of the game we'll see CJ or Josh defending Melo
AllThatJazzBasketball - February 6, 2012
let's hope so, if not, he'll be eaten alive
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
I hope so
no way G Time can keep up with Melo
Bebop - February 6, 2012
I would rather see him at SG of course.
But if we insist on playing him at the 3, eventually he is going to have to learn to guard elite players there. I want him to try to handle Melo.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Body wise, he would be bigger than the other SG
But I much rather play him there also. Seems to have a keen for that position.

What a wonderful Idea

My google fu provided me with that shortly after my comment
thanks though. Silly government thinking that shutting down one domain name is going to do anything.
Bebop - February 6, 2012
I totally forgot that the game was at 5:30.
So used to home games, haha…
DWest - February 6, 2012
I'm sure we'll prob be down a few people early on because of that
Bebop - February 6, 2012
.....Ty why is Harris starting?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
because the bench needs a leader
neds - February 6, 2012
Its like how you eat your veggies before dessert.
Get the bad out of the way and save the best for last.
dwillforlife - February 6, 2012
Harris is either going to give you an A or an F
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
I disagree.
He is totally capable of a C-.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
because he doesn't want to cuase chemistry problems
Besides Earl has made clear there’s no dispute over the starting PG, he likes to play with the kids… so everybody’s happy
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
#StartEarlAndTheKids
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
i won't complain about him starting
if earl is closing games.
moni - February 6, 2012
Yeah, wasn't it Wooden who said something about
it not mattering who starts, but who finishes?
DWest - February 6, 2012
Looking forward to this one...
Hope we play well in MSG for once… been awhile.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
i love how gordon hayward is the cheapest team mate
Evans Almighty - February 6, 2012
Emotion gonna run high in NY tonight
Stat’s unfortunate tragedy, Lin Mania, Giant’s Super Bowl win…Hopefully the Jazz can overcome the atmosphere. Just gotta put on their hardhats and play their game.
allen aoki - February 6, 2012
NY broadcast here... anyone have some Harp and Boler
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Jazz will win this.
Right?
utahjazz-philippines - February 6, 2012 via mobile
I see why not.
Other than the Hayward/Melo and possibly the Bell/Fields match up, I take our starters over theirs (yes even Harris, if he shows up). And I like our bench more.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Well, Mr. Bavetta is on the reffing corps tonight.
DWest - February 6, 2012
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
it always hard to determine how a team will respond to a tragedy

Evans Almighty - February 6, 2012

Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Here is a question that shows my age but
why exactly is MSG so historic i know they had some good teams with ewing in the past but they don’t have the history of the celts or lakers.
Evans Almighty - February 6, 2012
Big name team in a big name stadium
Results mean nothing to them.

Feels like I'm watching an ABC or ESPN game with Mike Breen announcing
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Hope Harris can get into the offense early...
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
I hope he can get into it at all.

hamfist - February 6, 2012
This Knicks team stink
No Stout, no defense, no inside offense.
The Jazz need to take the lead and blow this out. If we lose this game it’ll be super frustrating.
Could be a good game to free Eric Bourne. A speedy cutter could cut NY up.

JazzMT - February 6, 2012
think that was the game plan to start
jazzed - February 6, 2012 via mobile
I guess we forgot then
JazzMT - February 6, 2012
No.
Let’s give it to Josh Howard, so he can take 20-footers all night long. That’s a better idea.
DWest - February 6, 2012
How can Chandler be that bad around the rim?
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
You're welcome, Tyson.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
And again...
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Do you like that better?
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Please, please, please guard the 3 ball
I know the Jazz haven’t guarded the 3 well since…ever…but it’s all the Knicks have. And losing to a star-less Knicks side would be depressing.

rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Indeed.
DWest - February 6, 2012
I guess the ... implied the sarcasm.
My bad.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
too true
but they did get a nice team in return for him, i mean it was like 5 decent players right. for a volume shooter that didn’t play d
gubihero - February 6, 2012
I would almost cheer for them, if they weren't the nuggets.
They are a fun team to watch. Will only get deeper when they get Chandler back, if they re-sign him that is.

rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Is Chandler just going to chill there?
Kfunk - February 6, 2012
Kanter just ran the Big Al play
I like the confidence, I don’t like the play call. Our bench should be running and cutting, not sitting around waiting for the C like our Starters.
G Note - February 6, 2012
Everybody seems really stationary on offense
Corbin needs to put whomever in there that is going to move around.
Kfunk - February 6, 2012
Corbin needs to yell at these gauys auntil they start playing some, at least, decent ball

Bebop - February 6, 2012

LP Jazz - February 6, 2012
this is brutal
Bebop - February 6, 2012
Wow. We're down by 13, guys.
DWest - February 6, 2012
and we don't seem to care, for some reason
did the Jazz write this off as a loss, even though both stars are missing?
G Note - February 6, 2012
Harris' mediocrity is contagious
We need Burks, Tinsley and Evans – the only people not to be tainted by Devin
G Note - February 6, 2012

Bebop - February 6, 2012
Yup...this is all Harris' fault.
Not.
allen aoki - February 6, 2012
That Lin 3 goes down and the roof would have went off the building.

hamfist - February 6, 2012

That run got way out of hand
G Note - February 6, 2012
Why is Corbin scared of playing Burks?
Bebop - February 6, 2012
agree... Ty needs to show some pride and some hearth... i think this is the most pathetic effort i've seen from the Jazz ever, getting completely destroyed by a JV team
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Hmm.
JTWSUA!
DWest - February 6, 2012

Let's guard Lin going to the hoop.. give him a jumper, at least see what happens
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Al's gotta recognize we've gotta player under the hoop on that double
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
I hate that Gordo missed those shots.
But even more I hate that Al missed Gordo cutting to the hoop wide open.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Hey, look! An offensive set that resulted in points!
BC7 - February 6, 2012
This is worse than I expected the Jazz to play before the season started
No offensive movement
No defensive rotations at all (what happened to our awesome D from the first couple of weeks???)
And just way, way too many easy TO’s
G Note - February 6, 2012
We left the awesome D at the ESA.

Hells this is MSG man . . .
jazzed - February 6, 2012 via mobile
What would explain the week and a half before that?
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Sap is in quite the shooting slump
Bebop - February 6, 2012
I'm not saying we should guard Steve Novak...
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
please take Sap out, he is killing us on both ends
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Their passes look so bad
…why are they working?
BJInIndiana - February 6, 2012
Getting our teeth kicked in by Jeremy Lin, Steve Novak, and Bill Walker.
Is this a bad joke?
hamfist - February 6, 2012
that is a bad joke
JazzMT - February 6, 2012
38 point half
Bebop - February 6, 2012
Honestly...
Is this the lowest scoring half for the Jazz this whole season?
Whoever said that they look hungover was right on the money.
LP Jazz - February 6, 2012
moni
Will have a classic post tomorrow – killer idea – to a pathetic showing
jazzed - February 6, 2012 via mobile
Lin with 9 and 7
wtf
Bebop - February 6, 2012
More than our entire team has
Bebop - February 6, 2012
so much for my prediction Harris
Would shut down Lin #showsomeeffinpride
jazzed - February 6, 2012 via mobile
i've said this like 10 times already, but Ty needs to do something
the team is playing without the slightest sign of effort, he needs to keep these guys acountable.
on a secondary note… Sap has been awfull, completely…. if he’s playing like crap, we need to bench him
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Uuuuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh
I don’t think this play is even worthy of a booing.
JazzMT - February 6, 2012
Oddly reminiscent of the Warriors game a couple of years ago
When we got blown out by d leaguers
jjrosk - February 6, 2012
The Knicks are basically a D-League squad right now
moni - February 6, 2012
Yes , but their ivy league all stars are obviously capable of using advanced science and math
To destroy us
jjrosk - February 6, 2012
This is why cj should have gone to college
jjrosk - February 6, 2012
hahahaa
moni - February 6, 2012
Where does this halftime box score rank
on the all-time list of pathetic Jazz halftime box scores?
moni - February 6, 2012
I can't wait to draft Kendall Marshall!!
Bebop - February 6, 2012
Start this second half with Watson and the kids.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
we need Harris-Hayward-CJ-Favors-Al to start
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Oh well
utahjazz-philippines - February 6, 2012 via mobile
We're getting killed by scrubs, why not play our "scrubs"
in Burks, Evans, and Tinsely?
Bebop - February 6, 2012
Ty still don't know if they got ball skills.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
well our starters clearly dont have ball skills
tonight, at least
G Note - February 6, 2012
Sap went from playing like an MVP candidate
to playing like a 6th woman of the year WNBA candidate
This is by far the most frustrating game to watch this season :(
jazznerd - February 6, 2012
agree... i'm so mad right now
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Don't disrespect DeWanna Bonner like that.
Yeah I googled it.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Liar.
That is knowledge you already had.
Not that there’s anything wrong about that.
BC7 - February 6, 2012
Look at my history and I will prove you wrong.
Not sure how a #5 pick in the draft would be a 6th woman of the year for three years straight but hey the WNBA has pulled it off.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
LOL
BC7 - February 6, 2012
this thread is indicative of how the Jazz are playing
moni - February 6, 2012
If you can't stay positive, stay out of the thread lol
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Millsap! Throw that up and get me a foul!
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Gord!
BC7 - February 6, 2012
OG Beast!
BJInIndiana - February 6, 2012
Wait wait wait. Was that Raja shooting the T?
Since when do we let Raja shoot at all?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
this might be a turning point for this team and this season
will we fold on the road, or will we stand up to the challenge?
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Keep it up...
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
I love thread forecasting
Bebop - February 6, 2012
Stay down and fake it Harris.
Lets get Watson going.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Hayward wants to win this
We just need to start getting more stops. That was a good step in the right direction by Harris
G Note - February 6, 2012
Hayward is going to need a big night to carry this team.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Of course Devin hustle turns to crap.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Novack
Jazz Killer for this game
Bebop - February 6, 2012
Insert Kanter to punch him in the face.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
who on earth is supossed to be guarding Novak?
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
no-one
Jazz don’t defend outside of the arc
G Note - February 6, 2012
ESPN has him as a SF
So Hayward probably.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Pure 3 point shooter gets open shot. He's on 13 points.
Next play down the floor: Same guy has no-one within 5 feet of him. Luckily doesn’t get passed the ball.
But seriously, what are the coaches doing? The Knicks don’t have many tricks. They shoot the 3 and occasionally get a lucky drive. Guard the bloody 3 ball.
G Note - February 6, 2012
Love the big guys going up quickly with the ball.
BC7 - February 6, 2012
He is so old.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Smart pullup Gordo!
Love it
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
WHITE MAN SHOOT OUT
G Note - February 6, 2012
How many offensive fouls is that?
By far the most I have seen all year. It is getting a little silly now.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
That wasn't meant as a reply, but whatever.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Great hustle Devin...
Like his energy
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Raja...no more shooting, no more lay ups, no more defense
What good are you anymore?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Bavetta just saved us a layup on the offensive flop
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
is it just me, or is Lin pushing with his arm as he dribbles an offensive foul every time?
G Note - February 6, 2012
didn't notice until you pointed it out
but yeah
mos howard eisley - February 6, 2012
he just did it again!
usually rook’s get every call against them. why does Lin get special treatment?!
G Note - February 6, 2012
Why is Jefferson playing so far forward on the key?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Gord is making things happen tonight...
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Too bad everybody else isn't feeding off on it.
Come on Ty, make a sub. Obviously Miles/Burks and Watson play better with Hayward, especially when he is in this type of game mode.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Big Al wasting Hayward's effort there
allen aoki - February 6, 2012
Hayward is going it all
Big Al is just being a ball hog. I don’t care that most are going in, he’s playing the offense that loses us games. We win when we pass.
G Note - February 6, 2012
B-E-A-Utiful ball movement
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Jazz needs to make those 3s
allen aoki - February 6, 2012
Jazz need to make ANY 3's
BC7 - February 6, 2012
Timeout! Sub! Something Ty! Do SOMETHING!
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Thank you Knicks.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
I don't think Ty is there....
It’s Karl in a Corbin suit
G Note - February 6, 2012
no wonder tha pants are so baggy.
moni - February 6, 2012
We can win this game!
utahjazz-philippines - February 6, 2012 via mobile
I would put CJ in, and take Bell out
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
So when is Burks allowed to play?
Other than injury and garbage time, is Burks allowed to play this year? It’s not like the people above him on the depth chart are playing any good tonight.
G Note - February 6, 2012
I don't really want to talk about it.
I am fairly irrational about this kind of thing.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
High five's to fans after an f'ing jump shot?
We better come back and win this damn game!
BC7 - February 6, 2012
Jazz hanging around
Comeback coming, right?
BJInIndiana - February 6, 2012
Just hope we don't "blow our wad" as Coach Johnson would say
trying to get back in this game. Need some energy in the 4th.
BC7 - February 6, 2012
hopefully that's what our bench can do
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
+11
BC7 - February 6, 2012
Our 3 point defense is still non-existent
G Note - February 6, 2012
If Jeffries doesn't stop this flopping crap
Someone should give him a REAL offensive foul
BJInIndiana - February 6, 2012
I know a Big Turkey who could help with that
G Note - February 6, 2012
hey bright spot
we are shooting 86 percent for fts.

I bet she was though....
BC7 - February 6, 2012
Fire it Raja
Wait, what?
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Anyone notice that the Jazz are actually running off ball on offense this quarter?
It’s unbelievable that something so simple could stifle this team for 24 minutes
G Note - February 6, 2012
Thank goodness for Sidney Lowe's magical halftime suit.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
When the core action of your offense is off-ball movement and screens
it makes perfect sense ;)
TazzJazzFan - February 6, 2012
Feeling very good now
BJInIndiana - February 6, 2012
Who do we start in the 4th?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Kanter, CJ, Watson, Favors, Howard, most likely...
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
No Hayward
Or is he playing too good?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
You just asked would would start..
He played the whole third. Let’s see… damn, I was dead on. Go me.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Its Hayward!
Get him a footlong and mountain dew. He be ready to go.

What’s our summary so far? In 15 words or less.
MTN - February 6, 2012
Knicks started D-League. We decided to suck it up.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
no melo or a'm'a'r'e?
MTN - February 6, 2012
Amare out with death in family. Melo started then left shortly after with injury.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
First half ugly: too many TOs. Running out of time to catch up.
Bench stinks.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
horrible basketball
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012

rxmike12 - February 6, 2012

Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
I don't think it's legal to ask for Devin Harris right now, is it?
#loveyouEarl
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Dick Bavetta gets off calling offensive fouls, doesn't he?
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
At that age...

BC7 - February 6, 2012
Castration?
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Hey, it's starters time.
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
kanter gets called for an offensive foul
for that shoulder jab, but lin does it on every play and doesn’t get called?
mos howard eisley - February 6, 2012
So are these refs Giants fans or something?
MTN - February 6, 2012
No carmelo and stat. H0w cud we l0se!
utahjazz-philippines - February 6, 2012 via mobile
Favors and Kanter might kill Lin before the game is over.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
I liked Howard early in the year.
But it has faded. I hate that he takes minutes when Burks gets a DNP.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
It's not like he is superior to Burks or CJ
He’s just a bit more of the same.
I like Howard, but I don’t like him when he’s not playing at an elite level
G Note - February 6, 2012
The MVP chants kill me
dwillforlife - February 6, 2012
I actually like it.
I hate it when Lakers fans do it for Kobe. I like it for Lin. Makes me laugh.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
Back to the turnovers
Haven’t enjoyed watching this game at all tonight guys.
1. Because we haven’t played well
2. Because the starters have had way too many minutes and I’d rather watch the younglings lose than the starters grind out a win
3.Because we’re playing a team who’s best player is JEREMY LIN and we are LOSING.
G Note - February 6, 2012
All of the above?
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
i can't stand losing... even if we are playing the young guys.... not against these Knicks smh
Jazzfan_in_Chile - February 6, 2012
Good going Shumpert with the CJ shot

You do need to put the ball in the basket to score.
RRR - February 6, 2012
oh, that wasn't a foul on Millsap, not at all
you suck Bavetta
G Note - February 6, 2012
No, everybody under the basket with three opposite players and playing jumpball twice gets no fouls.
Learn your basketball.
king.nothing - February 6, 2012
Damnit
Devin needed that one
rxmike12 - February 6, 2012
Freak. No Jazzman even moved on that shot.

I probably said a different word.
hamfist - February 6, 2012
I've had to censor a lot of the posts on here
This is a swear-inducing game
G Note - February 6, 2012
When the Jazz play great
it’s also swear-inducing for me.

Sorry to be a downer but God they look horrible
LP Jazz - February 6, 2012

The calls have not gone the Jazz's way.
But the effort hasn’t been there. We deserve to lose. The Knicks don’t deserve to win though.

gotta give them credit for playing with way more energy than us
LP Jazz - February 6, 2012
its time to bring it back....
#freealecburks
dwillforlife - February 6, 2012
I like how Matt says giving second chance points is the problem tonight.
When we are losing, isn’t it always? Second chance points, bad shooting, and letting guards get in the lane at will.

matt>wikipedia
MTN - February 6, 2012

pacoelcid - February 6, 2012
I hate allowing late game offensive rebounds to the Knicks; it's the Knicks for crying out loud!
pacoelcid - February 6, 2012
Jazz aren't winning this game because of missed shots all over ther place and lack of execution...
That being said, these are the most ticky tacky refs I have ever seen?
tacoman - February 6, 2012
like that right there for instance??? Al had him boxed out?
tacoman - February 6, 2012
Dear Ty,
You need scorers in this game. Why do you draft Alec Burks, 19 PPG in college, leading scorer for CU the past two years and let him sit?
Explain yourself.

chance to cut it to 6 here...

BC7 - February 6, 2012
Never mind...
How about… why didn’t someone knock Lin down and erase his smug smile?
BC7 - February 6, 2012
Who would you prefer to use your two lottery picks on?

Let's never talk of this game again
All the good things Ty has done as Coach have meant nothing tonight. I know the players have played a big role in this loss, but I’ve been extremely unimpressed with the Jazz’s adjustments at the half, their defensive rotations, their offensive sets and most importantly – the absolutely terrible use of the bench.
