I love our team right now, but I suspect some changes are coming. The Jazz have a ton of assets, and I believe the trade deadline is going to be very busy this year. This means a lot of teams are going to be contacting the Jazz in order to help facilitate getting deals done. I am by no means saying we should actually do any of these, I just like to look at potential scenarios. I try to keep it reasonable and only target guys that are probably available. Discuss
1. Milsap and Harris for Pau and Morris. We can play Gasol at center, Favors starts at the 4, and we get a young pg with potential. Lakes get an upgrade at the point and an excellent power forward. We might have to throw something else. Bell?
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=88d67hh
2. Jefferson, Miles, Harris, and our Warriors pick for Rondo, Allen and Oneal. Celtics get a decent pg, a young slashing wing, and the down low presence they dont have right now along with a good first round pick. We get an excellent PG. a strong veteran who can hit the 3 which we badly need, and an acceptable starting center who would concede minutes to Kanter.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7bs8l9o
3. We trade CJ Miles for Anthony Morrow. Morrow is an elite 3 pt shooter and the Nets are looking to get rid of him to clear cap space. Miles gives them a nice expiring contract and we get someone who can hit a 3.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7h8k6lt
4. This is a big one. Jazz get Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick, and Quentin Richardson. Orlando gets Stephen Jackson Brandon Jennings, and Josh Howard. Milwaukee gets Devin Harris, CJ Miles and our Warriors pick.
The way I see it, Milwaukee gets rid of the Brandon Jennings headache and gets a draft pick, a decent pg, and a solid wing. Orlando gets a whole lot of scoring firepower in hopes of keeping Dwight. Jazz get a pg of equivalent worth, an elite 3 point shooter in Reddick, and another acceptable wing in Richardson. Not sure if the Jazz would do this unless we could keep our pick. Orlando would do this in a second. Milwaukee would only do this if they got a pick out of it.

If it's not a trade that we make, then here are my suggestions for people we should look to absorb with our trade exception.
1. Anthony Morrow since the Nets need to clear cap space, and we basically gave them Memo for nothing. They owe us!
2. JJ Redick since Orlando will be cleaning house when Dwight leaves
3. Ray Allen since the Celtics might be blowing it up

I like going for Morrow
I’d offer any combo of CJ, Devin, and Howard.
I have no idea if NJ would go for that.
Yucca Man - February 10, 2012
I like 3
That’s the only one of these that I see having a realistic shot of going through. I don’t think the Lakers go for 1 because Harris isn’t a big enough upgrade at PG to make up for the length and the defense they lose swapping Pau for Paul. Despite the rumors, I don’t think the Celtics are looking to move Rondo, and while Allen remains an elite shooter, he doesn’t put us over the top and there are younger, cheaper options out there. I don’t think the Bucks or the Magic would agree to the last one. The Bucks are sold on Jennings, and although on paper that trade helps the Magic, those guys don’t fit their offense as well as the people they’d be giving up.
As for #3, if I’m trading with the Nets, I also want to get back Jordan Farmar. Maybe Howard and Miles (both expiring deals, only works in March since we just signed Howard this year) for Morrow and Farmar. I don’t think they’d take back Devin, since he has another year left on his contract.

Probably golden state pick to the wizards, and a pick from the wizards to the celtics or something,
Would love to see Wall in a Jazz Jersey though
jazzyman - February 10, 2012
We pick up another wing, and a very expensive one at that, but getting wall might be worth it
And just because we pay him doesn’t mean we have to play him, we could amnesty him, or trade him in his contract year, we wouldn’t be paying him the $40 mil+ that his contract demands (this trade would probably happen during the draft, or as soon as they could happen after the draft lottery) so he would be in his last year, and if we cant get rid of him, then thats 22 mil or something that we spent that can be thought of as a down payment on a potential Big 4 star combo in John Wall+Derrick Favors+Enes Kanter+Hayward (though we would never get any allstar recognition, even if we were top of the conference with 70 wins, but the way they would be playing in a few years would be allstar worthy)

I like the idea of John Wall in a Jazz uni,
but I dont see Washington blowing up the team just because they suck right now, especially for that particular trade. Blantche is definitely available, but that’s probably it.
TurboJazz224 - February 10, 2012
It would potentially get them a higher pick than they have, maybe a future pick too, and get them some veteran leadership
They would be better off with Jefferson and Ray Allen, It might actually give them a game plan, and if they use their picks right, it might get them to the playoffs. Plus it gets rid of a huge contract for them, and creates a little more flexibility for next year, especially if this is done at the draft, and Allen is a sign-and-trade, he would be cheaper, else he would be a FA and this trade might not work as well, but another team could get in on it instead of Celtics, I just chose them because they are a team that would very much like a 1st round pick in the near future
jazzyman - February 10, 2012
Paul Millsap playing in a Lakers jersey.
Ughhhh.
DWest - February 10, 2012
CJ to Nets
Let’s send them Ty Corbin and a bag of Jazz uniforms too. The 2012 Nets are the 2011 Jazz.
MTN - February 10, 2012
I think Bell would retire before playing with Kobe.
MTN - February 10, 2012
How about going after Maynor?
He’s an upgrade for us, isn’t he?
MTN - February 10, 2012
Out for the season...is that an upgrade?
hk47 - February 11, 2012
Yes. They should try to trade for him, but I think he'd need to pass a physical. Maybe in the offseason.
clarkpojo - February 12, 2012
Totally agree, i'd love to have him back
TurboJazz224 - February 13, 2012
Brandon Jennings headache?
The dude is leading the next wave of elite PG’s. He has consistency problems, but he can also take over a game. With Bogut constantly injured, Jennings is the best player on the Bucks by far. The Jazz would do well to get him, but Milwaukee will want a lot more than a protected 1st round pick.
G Note - February 11, 2012
i think he is refering to
jennings comments on looking into playing in a big market as the headache…not his play
PMoney - February 11, 2012
Exactly
TurboJazz224 - February 13, 2012
Let's not mince words, trade four is horrible
We trade Howard, Harris, Miles and a potential lottery pick and all the Jazz get back in exchange is: Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick, and Quentin Richardson? That’s brutal. Not to mention, Milwaukee is not going to trade Brandon Jennings.
We all know we need a shooter, but geeze…I can’t even type anymore.
hk47 - February 11, 2012
Agreed
The Magic are getting the most out of this trade, the extra pick to Milwaukee would have to come from Orlando.
TurboJazz224 - February 13, 2012
None of these trades improve the Jazz in the long run.
They are all win now moves. If jazz make a move it needs to be for youth and cap space.
ForTheLove - February 11, 2012
How about this trade
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=86xzw6m
or this one:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7fcj8s3
I’d prefer the Al trade and I’d play this Lineup:
Hinrich, Hayward, Smith, Millsap, Favors
I know it’s big, but It’d lead to a lot of boards. All of these players are good passers and has a lot of defensive potential. Dampier is a glorified bench warmer, and would provide good depth at the Center position
If we do the Millsap one It’d go like this:
Hinrich, Bell, Hayward, Smith, Jefferson
Hinrich’s deal is up at the end of the year, clearing the cap space, and Smith’s is only for a year after that, which allows the Jazz to keep their cap flexibility.
