SLC Dunk

Basketball Kris Doesn't Really Roll Off The Tongue - The Downbeat - #658

Nearly five years ago when blogging was taking off and the Jazz were making a run to the Western Conference final, there was a surprising lack of Jazz blogs. There were a few and had good content but none had enough updates to satiate my thirst for insight and perspective from the fan. So for reasons unknown, I decided to start up my own blog and try to post on a regular basis. What started out as a simple blogspot site moved on to my own domain at basketballjohn.com where I received the moniker of Basketball John. I just kind of went with it though it even though John isn't my real name. It was easier to assume that identity than to correct everyone. Shortly after, I was fortunate enough to be picked up by SB Nation and start SLC Dunk as part of their NBA network.

So why am I boring you to death with this? Well, it's time to retire Basketball John. I've thoroughly enjoyed building up readers, covering the Jazz and following them more than I have before in my life, and seeing this amazing community grow over the past five years. I don't know what the Internet equivalent to five years is, but it's a lot. In that time I've put in countless hours to writing, reading, and watching Jazz games. I've loved every minute of it.

Unfortunately, time is a finite resource. That's no surprise to any of you reading this. I've recently had changes in my real job that is going to require a lot more dedication and time that I currently have available. This is a good thing. It's an exciting time in my career and I can't wait to see where this takes me. More importantly, my little family is growing and becoming more involved in school, sports, and everything else that comes with fatherhood. Any free time that I have will be dedicated to them. My personal life couldn't be better. I'm looking forward to what the future brings.

With that though, I wouldn't be able to provide the same level of commitment required to run a site like SLC Dunk. Your support as a community and reader deserves the very best. That's why I'm handing over the reins to the site to Amar, Clark, Moni, and Jon. You all know them already from their posts here. They do a fantastic job. In the brief time that I've told them that I was leaving, they've put together an amazing plan to not only keep things going as they are now, but to improve and bring new things to the site.

I won't be completely disappearing. I'll be in game threads when possible and chime in if time allows. And since I'll be turning over the @slcdunk twitter handle to the new/existing team, you can find me on twitter now @5kl with my real name, Kris. I know, it's not as sexy as Basketball John, but at least I'll respond in real life now. Being called John when I met someone outside of the site always felt kind of weird.

I don't have any favorite stories on SLC Dunk that I've done other than to keep things doing as long as I have. It's a small accomplishment to me to keep something like this going this long. You don't have to have been reading or lurking here long to realize that it's the community of the site that makes this the best place on the Internet for Jazz fans. That will always be the case.

Finally, thanks to everyone. There's no way to name everyone that needs to be named. But I want to say thanks for every link, every comment, every mention, every article that I've read and grown from, every interaction, and everything that I've experienced as a result of this site. Thank to SB Nation (and Matt the one that brought me on) for giving me an audience and their support. Thanks to the NBA blogging and reporting community. It really a great brother(sister)hood of members that are willing to help one another. Thanks to the local and national beat writers that provide so much content for blogging and commentary. Thanks to the Jazz and their organization.

And thanks to my wife who becomes near to an NBA widow once the season starts.

Again, I'm not disappearing completely. Hit me up on twitter anytime to talk Jazz or whatever you'd like.

Now, get back to talking about whether this recent success the Jazz have had can continue and all things Jazz.

BBK

Thanks for all your work. I lurked for a few years before I actually started (infrequently) commenting. This is by far my favorite Jazz community. I hope you’ll still contribute in the future. Good luck in all your future career/family endeavors!

Thanks. I admit I didn't catch on to BBK at first, thought it was a typo.

I’ll be around when I can.

Even knowing this was coming

it’s still surreal. Thanks so freaking much, BBJ, for creating this site and community. None better.

Thanks moni for all your work.
thanks bbk

lol i have enjoyed your downbeats for so long now. SLCDUNKWSUA. This is by far the best jazz community out there.

This is when I caught on to BBK.
BBK

Things wont be the same without you. Thank you for your personal investment in making this the best Jazz community out there. I really appreciate it. I hope your future plans really turn to crap (antijinx).

Thanks for the anti jinx
Thanks.

Its been a great ride and I appreciate all the work that has been put in to the site.

Thanks for reading.
Thanks for all the hard work BBK!

I wish you success in your career and with your family! You’ve done a great job with SLC Dunk! Can’t wait until you come out of blogging retirement in 10 years or so!

I'll fax in my return announcement.
I'm still kind of in shock

I’ll give you a quick thanks here.

But remember: I wrote a huge piece when Deron was traded, another when AK was officially a Jazzman no longer. If you think you’re going away with a similar sendoff from me … you were just thinking silly.

Thanks for the post. It's deeply appreciated.
Oh, and if anyone read this DB thusly:
I’m handing over the reins to the site to Amar, Clark, Moni, and Jon

and then wondered, “Who the frick is Jon?”

I am Jon.

Hahaha...

That was me.

Just assumed it was you...
Me too. I was scanning the comments before I was going to ask.

Now that you mention it though, I recall that a few of the player previews said Jon Midget (Yucca Man) or something like that.

Yeah, I should have clarified

I think I wrote a lot of stuff like that where I knew what I was talking about but I’m sure everyone else had no idea.

Thank you

Thank you John..ehmm Kris…thanks for everything and good luck with your new job…I wish you all the best to you and your family !!! GO JAZZ !

Thanks for the comment.
Wow.

I look forward to the DB every morning. Props to you & good luck in your future!

Thanks.

The Downbeat will continue, it will just be one of the fine folk above that do it.

Thanks BBK!!!!

I have been reading for about two years now and finally commenting for a few weeks now but I really love this site its the best way to get my jazz news and I look forward to it every morning. Thanks Kris!!!!

I look forward to the downbeat that is
Glad you're out of the lurking phase.
Thank you

As they say, long time reader, fairly new poster. I’ve enjoyed my short stay with you and wish you the best in all your new endeavors. It would appear you’ve left the site in very capable hands. Good luck to everyone!!

Thanks. Glad to see so many lurkers come out.

I came here three years ago and found it a refreshing change of mood from some other SB Nation sites I belong to and post frequently. The mood is more mellow here at SLC Dunk, and I’ve always been grateful for that.

I think my favorite Basketball John memory is when the first Game Thread Roll Call was being implemented. You gave out the post totals about halfway through the thread, and when I remarked “Hey, look, BBJ’s right in the dead center”, you cooly replied. . . “I’m a facilitator”. :D

Yes you are.

I completely forgot about that but I remember now.

Thanks Dyl. Between you and UtesFan89, you have the most diverse group of teams that you like.

I'm sad... and happy.

Good luck dude. In a sense I’m sad for me and what I’m losing… but the opportunities you have and what you’ve done, I’m actually happy for you.

Thanks Kris...

For all that you have done for us as Jazz fans. There is definitely no better Jazz community on the interwebs than that of the Dunk.

The most important question now is, if Dodge Barrage returns to Utah in 2012, will you still be our fearless leader?

I will no doubt return for the Dodge Barrage if there is one.
Thanks BBK.

What you have created here is amazing. SLCDunk is the best place to go for Jazz insight and fan interaction. I always thought most of the sports blogs were so dumb before I found SLCDunk. I used to read a couple of blogs with fans talking about why the Jazz should get LeBron and how Kobe isn’t even good the media just makes him good and lots of other stuff that just made me think why even bother reading this stuff.

Then in 2010 I read a couple of Downbeats and I was blown away. Insightful Jazz information and comments from people based in reality with their Jazz discussions? Wow. I soon after joined to comment on the Hayward draft and have been hooked since. Even when I am working on the farm I will pull up the downbeat every morning on the tractor and read it. The Downbeat has been a big part of my morning routine for the last 2 years and I thank you for that.

Are you Jerry Sloan??
This tractor comment makes me happy.

Thanks.

The guy I agree with most on SLCDunk is a farmer. Odd.
Farmers love their basketball. Even if we are odd.
I wasn't calling you odd. I'm just the polar opposite of a tractor driver.

Just about as city slicker as they come.

Thanks so much!

over the past two years this has been my #1 spot to get Jazz posts! thanks for helping us through the lockout!

Thanks for reading. I'm just glad that it ended otherwise the Downbeat could have gotten ugly.
Thanks

First Jerry, then Deron, and now this! This is a great site to come to. I could always rely on the downbeat’s being here every day. No one really understood why I would go play dodgeball with a bunch of people that I met on a blog. You have created a place that is enjoyable.

Thanks. One of the only two-time members of the Dodge Ball team.
Thanks for everything! You have never failed to provide good insights.
Thanks, I appreciate your comment.
Thank you BBJ

I’ve been lurking solidly for a couple of years now and I just wanted to thank you for your work. You’ve single-handedly made this the best Jazz blog on the web.

I am Spartacus

Thanks. Another lurker joins the ranks.

Great work..

You created the best place for real Jazz fans to talk. I love this site. Good luck in all you do!

Thanks for your comments.
YO MAN YOU HELPED ME THRU SOME TOUGH TIMES.

THANK YOU BBK. THIS BLOG AND COMMUNITY HELPED ME THROUGH SOME TOUGH TIMES IN MY LIFE. I WANTED TO CRY READIN YOUR LAST DB. I’M THANKFUL YOU WON’T BE GONE GONE AND THAT THE TORCH IS BEIN PASSED ON. THANKS FOR YOUR DEDICATION IN CREATING THIS COMMUNITY WHERE WE CAN COME TOGETHER. THANKS AGAIN BRADA KRIS

Wow, thanks.

This means a lot.

Thanks, Kris. It’s hard to follow the Jazz from Houston, but your work (as well as the work of the other editor/authors) has made it very easy. Best of wishes with your new workload and the blessings of a growing family.

I don't know if it would be worse to live deep in Rockets country or Lakers country.

Either way, thanks.

I’m sure it is worse here as far as basketball is concerned…people hate the Jazz here. But when you consider the politics, taxes, and other sports, I like it down here much better than any place in California!

oh who cares?

blah blah blah, I hate good byes like this. Give us the Jazz info!

Ok, I am kidding. Seriously man, you have done a heck of a job and are a heck of a writer. This place wont be the same without you. I have loved my time here at SLCDunk. I think if I had to pick a favorite memory, it would be the time during the lockout when you left the downbeat completely blank and I got into three arguments that caused like 1000 comments.

I cant thank you enough. Nothing but the best going forward my friend.

Thanks Ben

thanks for your posts and contributions.

Thank you

I don’t comment much but I have been benefiting from your posts for years. Thank you for your time and your passion.

Thanks for reading.
I can only imagine how much time and effort you have dumped into this site.

Thanks for all of that, you have been instrumental in creating for sure the best best Jazz blog available. I have total faith that the site will continue strong after you pass the reins, and that is a credit to you.

It is definitely in good hands.

And my wife could probably give you an exact measurement into how much time I put into it. Somewhere around “too much.”

Can't thank you enough for creating this community and welcoming everyone into it, BBK

This is my favorite Jazz community out there by a country mile, and it’s in large part because of your tireless (and often thankless) efforts. Best of luck with everything!

Thanks again. Your comment and participation is enough.
Good luck BBJ

Love the Blog, and reading the DB’s every morning. Good luck in your career

Thanks.

I look forward to reading the Downbeats the new/existing crew come up with.

Kris?

That’s really your name, Kris? hmmm… So many emotions going through my brain right now. And Yucca Man is Jon…now you’re going to tell me Amar’s real name is Steve. I don’t know who to trust anymore.

My Secret is ouT!!!

(rushes off to the stevemobile for my getaway)

Hahaha

Rec’d

ditto
Who the hell is 'Kris'

Is all I could think after going directly to ’Jon’s’ (was a little confused there as well) post saying goodbye. Anyway, in and ot for a couple of years and enjoy sitting in on game threads -but your commentary, professionalism, and (more importantly in my book) even keeled writing style has been a pleasure to follow. Additionally, you have been very inclusive of the different ideas and opinions of those who post. I think I’ve been most appreciative of that over everything. I think that can be very difficult for bloggers who are passionate fans (and can feel passionately) to do. Thanks for that. And sorry, don’t know who the hell this BBK guy is . . . Heck of a brand you’ve developed . . .don’t toss it to the wind!

Thanks.

I’ve tried to be even keeled on most things though I’ve strayed a couple of times.

If you ever needed a fake ID, I hope you make your name Steve.
I'm going to use "Steve" whenever I meet someone I don't want to ever meet again

or if i want to get good seats when i reserve a table at a fancy restaurant. (you can’t imagine where they seat you if you say ‘Amar’)

Steven...could you....

Steven, could you please take out the garbage today? I really am all sorts of Confused on all these name changes. Good Luck Kristopher….

Thank you

You’ve created the best Jazz fan community on the web in sustainable fashion. Thanks for the outlet for all things Jazz-related. You have created exactly what you set out to do and much, much more.

Thank you. I really do appreciate it.
thanks BBJ

I have enjoyed getting my jazz fix at this site for a long time now. You have helped create a wonderful community here. Good luck with your future time consuming endeavors.

Thanks.

I have no doubt the community will continue to be the best on the web.

Thank You

I once heard about this blog on the radio. I jumped on to take a look, not really being a fan of blogs in general. The first thing I read was an entry about the Kyle Korver “gay elf defense.” I was hooked. Thanks for everything BBJ, good luck in real life:)

We were all converted to the gay elf defense.

thanks.

Thanks from San Diego!

Kris, Thanks! I’m surrounded by non-NBA fans or Laker fans. Jerry Buss has a house in town and his secretary is client of mine. SLCDUNK has helped me connect with Jazz fans and the team I grew up loving again. Sometimes you just need someone who’s a fan of your team to whom you can vent. NBA ticket and the in game threads are the best. I feel like I’m cheering along side my fellow Jazz fans.
Best of luck to you in life endevors. Kids, you job, wife etc have a way of taking over but they’re way more important.

We need a post from you and other Jazz fans in California. I’m glad that we’ve been able to help connect you to other fans.

Yeah, it can be rough being a Jazz fan in SoCal

I come up once or twice a year to catch a game when I visit family. Going to the Clippers/Jazz game on March 31st. Got some sweet tickets. Will wear my Jazz gear, I just hope there aren’t any Dodger fans at the game.

Thanks Kris

Found this site 3 or 4 years ago, and have enjoyed coming here each day. Of all the sites that I have saved as my favorite. This is by far the most visited. Living in Jacksonville fl. Its hard to get my jazz fix, but thanks to slc dunk being a jazz fan has been so much more enjoyable even if I don’t post much. Good luck!

Thanks for the daily reading.

I hope you keep coming as the site grows.

!!

this is so bittersweet!
I have loved your posts for years, it’s one of the first things I do every morning, and I’ll be sad to see you go, but I’m very happy to hear that you’re personal life is going so great.

thank you for all the time and effort you have put into our team over the years, and I know you’ve left the site in great hands.

I have to admit

I didn’t realize the impact of Downbeats until I got a tweet or an email one day when it was running a bit late from someone (can’t remember who) saying that they couldn’t start the day until the Downbeat had come out.

I really am going to be glad to see your posts no matter how rare they are.

Mainly because you are much more tempered in you reactions than most anybody else here. I’ve only been a Dunker for like 10 months, but it’s become a regular fixture of my life, especially the Downbeat, so thank you for that. Have a great career.

I will try to write some

I just can’t say when for sure. Thanks for reading.

All the best, BBK!

And thanks for the great effort you put up all this time. I wish you success! And, of course, GO JAZZ! :D

Thanks for the comment.
Best of luck!

This is my first comment here (don’t think poorly of me…yet!), but that doesn’t mean I don’t love this site. It’s fantastic and I can only imagine how much blood, sweat, and tears it’s taken to get it where it was. Great job Kris!

And I have all the faith in the world in Amar, Moni, Jon, and Clark…ALWAYS enjoy our convos together, fellow passionate Jazz fans!

I should retire every day

We would have a thousand more members :). Thanks though.

Thank you BBK!

I’ve been visiting this site daily for the past 2.5 years from around the world and finally made an account so I could thank you for all that you have done/contributed to this site. Even though this is my first post, this blog provided me with a jazz community that I never really had, and I wanted to thank you for that.

Thanks

It is a great community and will keep being the best.

BBJ is named Kris. Didn't see that one coming.

Thanks for all the hard work in establishing the SLC Dunk community.

Yeah, it's been weird to be called John.

But like I said, it was easier than having to explain it to everyone. I have said things a couple of times where the name came from, but that was a while ago.

Too bad. It’ll be hard to see you go.

Well, thanks.

I’ll be around when I can. This season will provide plenty of opportunity.

BBJ/Kris

Thanks for everything. I’ve been following your blog since the start (way before the SLC Dunk days) – even if I spend less time on SLC Dunk right now than the average Joe – and it sucks that you’re having to stop.

That said, best of luck with the future endeavors.
Hopefully the Jazz can send you out on top with a championship (or at least honor you with one in the next couple of years).

Just so everyone knows...

UtesFan89 was the first official member of SLC Dunk when I moved here from basketballjohn.com. He’s also a great blogger when he’s not doing silly things like med school.

Thanks.

Thanks for everything, Kris!

I’m sorry to see you go. I won’t say I’m sad because it sounds like you’re moving on to bigger and better things. I’m happy for you and your family. Good luck in your new endeavors.

It's been a great opportunity

I really didn’t envision it growing like it has. There’s something that’s a little addicting when people read what you write and actually like it.

Thanks.

Thank you.

I’ve only make token appearances around these parts lately, as my own work has kept me from contributing the way I once did. But I want to join the chorus in thanking Kris for his work.

It’s a herculean achievement to have kept SLC Dunk going for this long at all, let alone by the efforts of one man. 658 Downbeats, hundreds of game threads, news posts in between…all so Jazz fans could have a voice outside of the shouty men on the radio and boring old stiffs at the newspaper.

Kris, you’ve succeeded spectacularly, and you’ll be missed. Good luck to you.

I miss the Shums and BBJ already
Thanks Shums

Shums was also one of the very first members and contributors. If you’re not following him on twitter @theshums, you should be. He does great work at Deseret News and with his video game writing, not to mention his music.

Oh, another thing

Shums was the one that named the Downbeat.

Can't believe it

Always informative, always courteous…. You have set a high standard. Best wishes in the new job.

Can’t believe it.

Enjoy your vintage tractor collection!

I was a reader for years, first on your site and then on the Dunk. It’s been a lifesaver, and the the only way for me as a Floridian to get my Jazz fix. It’s so rare in this world to find a thoughtful, level-headed perspective on things- much less on the internet! Like everyone else, I will definitely miss your contributions to this site.

I wish all the best to you and yours. If, like Stan Van Gundy, your family decides to release you back in to the basketball world… well, there will always a seat at the table for you.

Thanks for everything. It’s been real. Especially when Sloan walked and Deron got traded, we all needed each other. And you were there for us. I hope this site lives on as strong as it has been in the past, so that if you ever need us we will be here for you.

Godspeed, BBJ! You won’t be forgotten, but hopefully you won’t be gone.

I sure wish I knew that Sloan was selling those

It really would have been worth looking into getting one of them. I would have blogged while sitting on one for sure.

Thanks for the kind words.

Now that I know your name's not John, it makes me think more of the lowercase john.

Not the toilet, but the guy who patronizes women practicing the oldest profession.

A john for basketball.

Hadn't thought about it that way.
You know, BBK isn't so bad...

especially using the initials…it sounds like it would work for a new shoe line.

Or a fast food restaurant... Burbur King
The Basketball Burger King

I should have explored that sponsorship.

Thanks BBK for the good work!
You will be missed!

I’ve been a lifelong casual Jazz fan, but it wasn’t until I joined this blog two years ago that I became a real Jazz fan. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve dedicated to this blog!

Thanks. Glad to have you hear.
Thank you BBJ!

I have been reading religiously every day for the last two years. I use to blog for True Blue Jazz and UJ360, but the overall quality of SLC Dunk satiated my need for all things Jazz enough to help me to walk away from it when it was my time. I have no doubt the others will pick up the slack, but you will be missed. This blog sets the standard for every Jazz blog on the web. Thank you for all you have done!!!!

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Feel free to post a FanPost if you feel the need.

Is Moni keeping her own blog going?

Or are most of her contributions going to migrate over?

Good question.

She’d better keep it, she’s got her own individual style over there! (Are you listening Moni?) :)

I'm pretty sure she's keeping it.
I've actually been contributing here

(sporadically) for a couple of years now.

My useless commentary will stay over there and I’ll try to up my game over here to meet the ultra-high standard.

I think you underestimate your "useless commentary"

It would do well here.

I love your "useless commentary" A big highlight of my day
Useless commentary? Puh-leeze.

That stuff is mega entertaining. Kinda wish it were over here. I just go over once a week or so during the season to catch up on what I’ve missed, but things like the tie/record thing and the photoshopped captions are great.

Thank you BBJ, Patty and Hype

I’ll be posting more here, good thing tomatoes can’t be thrown online :)

BBJ is your last name Humphries? JK

Thank you very much Kris. slcdunk.com is my goto site for basketball news. Sometimes when I open my browser my hand automatically types SLCdunk.com.

Growing up in Nepal and living in MD and PA, I never met any Jazz fans. SLCDunk is the place where I get to interact with other Jazz fans. Wouldn’t have been possible without you.

! Thank you !

what part of Nepal are you from????
Kathmandu
awesome, my cousin proposed there

Nepal is awesome. (Said the Indian guy)

See, I need to sell companies my secret if you're programmed to just type SLCDunk.com into your browser.

Thanks for reading.

A resounding thank you!

I have long felt that your dedication, hard work, perspective, fan insight, and voice have been unparalleled. I have enjoyed tremendously all that you have done here at SLCdunk. While I anticipate wonderful things for SLCdunk in the future—the torch is being passed to very capable hands—your posts will be missed.

Many thanks for all the good times! And many successes to you and your family!

Thanks, I really do appreciate your comment and reading.
Wow

This, BBK, is why we have loved your work! You have once again gone above and beyond by replying to everybody’s comments. Although I am amazed and awed, I shouldn’t actually be surprised. This is vintage Basketball John.

Thank you for your time and kindness in replying to each of these.

Much Thanks, BBK/J

You’ve done a remarkable job running this site, and I will miss you! I’ve only been a member for a year, and a lurker for longer than that, but I’ve loved reading your stuff ever since I stumbled upon SLC Dunk. Good luck in your future pursuits, and I look forward to reading the pieces you write for the site, whenever they show up.

By my count, we have 150 new lurkers that have officially joined the ranks.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you so much!

The Downbeats kept me alive over this horrific lockout, and kept me entertained long before that. I appreciate your work so much, and wish you the best!

I know your name’s Kris now, but you’ll always be BBJ to me.

Thanks.

Like I said, I’m glad that the lockout ended when it did. I was getting nervous about having to go a whole year with absolutely nothing to go on for Downbeats other than players and owners are still idiots.

Basketball Kris

Your downbeat streak was Ripken’esque.
Thanks for all of the memories.
And thank you for providing a format where a huge Jazz fan with no tv could still connect with the team and its fans.
You will be missed!
(end of eulogy)

I was hoping to get to 1000 and have some sort of party

That could still happen. The streak was one of my highlights, something that I kept up and didn’t let go by the wayside like so many other things on SLC Dunk that I had stopped doing.

I don't think I have any words to add that haven't already been said, Kris

So all I’ll do is this:

fistbump

Thanks to the southernmost Jazz fan in the world.

If Tazz is down under, then is the US up over?

Thank you very much Kris, thanks for building this awesome community

best place to be a Jazz fan, no doubt about it… thanks for all the DB, best daily dose of Jazz knowledge around the web.. it’s been a nice ride, and i really hope to see you around in the game threads :)

greetings from Chile!

Hmmm

We might have to measure to see just how far south you are. You might challenge Tazz.

I'm 42 Degrees South in latitude
To a forefather of the new Jazz social media frontier:

I started reading basketballjohn.com after reading some of your posts on jazzfanz because I thought they were so insightful. Once the success carried over to SLC Dunk, I was excited to be able to participate. I have met so many awesome people through this site. Not just great Jazz fans, but really cool people, and I would never have had the opportunity to be able to interact and have my life enriched by all of you if it weren’t for Kris.

The Jazz organization owes you just as much of a thanks as we do, because they didn’t cultivate this social media phenomenon they are marketing through Twitter, it fell into their laps because of the work you did.

I wish you nothing but the best and will definitely look out for you on Twitter.

Thanks for everything.

I would go back and read what I posted on Jazzfanz

But I think it’s been wiped out now.

Thanks for your comments. Prod Punk is one of the relatively few that I’ve met in person as we watched the Jazz and Nuggets.

Best of luck to you Kris

And thank you for providing a great Jazz community!

Thanks for being a part of that community.
thank you

Best Jazz blog there is, enjoyed logging on everyday since joining and reading the downbeat. Only Jazz community that I thought of as the smartest fans. Good luck with all of your endeavors.

Thanks

It really does mean a lot to read that.

E tu, basketball johnus?

Next I see the bear climbing up on his big ladder and hoisting a sign that says he’s retiring to spend more time with his family. Seriously though, the downbeat has been a daily must have fix for the last two years. There’s not much love for Jazz basketball in Bellingham, WA but SLC Dunk has made me feel like I’m part of large (somewhat dysfunctional) family and not quite so alone sports wise.

There's no doubt that the Jazz fan twitter/SLC Dunk fam is the best and most dysfunctional there is.

Thanks for your comment.

Late to the party but Thanks BBJ!

Been sitting on a beach all day and when I finally got around to the internet, I see this.

Got to admit, I have a bad basketball jones for the Jazz and SLCDunk satisfies my thirst everyday.

Been some long offseasons when the only news I got was from here especially the Downbeat.

I wish I could have retired to that life

Sitting on a beach all day and then getting around to the Internet when convenient.

Thanks.

Mostly a lurker here

Thanks for your work. This is a friendly environment to talk Jazz ball that I don’t normally have in “real” life. Good luck in the future.

Thanks for the kind comment.
Basketball Kris

Thanks. You were by far the best. Good luck with everything.

I can relate to your new schedule. I want to participate more on this blog then I have, but I usually will read daily.

THANKS.

Thank You BBJ

You made this site the best on the net

Best site on the net is too much, but thank you for the comment.
A little late to this but...

Thanks for keeping us all sane during the lockout. there should be some award for all the down beats you did while we didn’t even have any games to talk about. You brought my Jazz fandom to a whole new level and this site has been one of the first ones I check everyday. Also glad I got to meet you at Crown Burger a while back.
