Game Day: Utah Jazz (4-3) @ Golden State Warriors (2-5)

When I think of the Warriors, the first thing I remember is one of the worst games in Utah Jazz history. You know, the third-to-last game of the 2008-2009 season when we got beat were humiliated by four undrafted players and three rookies. Don Nelson didn't even coach the game. He sat in his [passenger's] seat and let Keith Smart do the driving.

Of course, Keith Smart is now coaching Sacramento, and Golden State is being coached by Mark Jackass. I mean Jackson. No I don't; I mean Jackass.

[minute of booing and hissing]

What's going on with the Warriors
After winning two of their first three, the Warriors have dropped four straight and are sitting at the bottom of the Pacific Division. Monta Ellis was quoted as saying, "I feel great about this team" after that last loss. Maybe he just feels good about himself; he's been the Dubs' leading scorer in five of their last six games.

What's going on with the Jazz
After a putrid start to the season, the Jazz have started slowly putting things together. We've won three in a row, but they've all come at home. We're perfect at home and winless on the road. The Jazz have also been lucky to have played virtually every one of its matchups so far against teams missing their stars/key players (Lakers without Andrew Bynum; Hornets without Eric Gordon; Bucks without Andrew Bogut; Grizzlies without Zach Randolph). This will continue with the Warriors, who are without Stephen Curry.

None so far this season.

I heart all of this . . .
♥ the poll, if I do say so myself.
I wonder if the Warriors owner will be sitting next to three bloggers?
my Steve brown filter automatically turned on

So I wasnt able to get the full scoop of who and why they were there. Regardless, none of them looked all that thrilled.

i was one of them

I was more than thrilled to be there, one of the best nights of my life.

Wish we were seeing Fess tonight.
i thought this quote from watson was interesting

"We feel like our five off the bench could start in this league. We five off the bench believe we can dominate and change the game," said Watson, who had 11 points and five assists as the Jazz reserves outscored the depleted Memphis bench 41-11. it was in the game recap

i also think they could

not to mention i think most everybody on this site thinks they could ahem should start. but i like their attitude, and i think that watson really helps with that. i’m glad he’s leading the bench so he can hang with burks favors and kanter, wish hayward got to hand with him more, but. man i love our bench, it’s like the mutated, bigger, meaner version of swarm

"mutated, bigger, meaner version of swarm"

like it man – needs a good name – until they all start anyway

A.B, E.W, D.F, E.K, J.H, CJ.M, J.E

i’m really trying to figure out some creative word with these initials to sum our awesomeness off the bench. haven’t figured it out yet

J.A.C.K.E.D

With Watson and the young guys

It’s the Holmes team. Elementary and dear Watson.

If the starting wings can provide 10 points a game

Along with the bigs doin work they can compete in every game they play in. Just keep improving on defense like they been doing until the offense and the sets get worked out. The bench guys have been great all season. Kanter and Favors bring height, skill, and energy that most benches in the league can’t compete with.

The only thing that worries me is the rotations Ty is using. He needs to find that 9-10 man rotation and stick with it so they can get some chemistry going.

i don't know about that

the way he is going about it keeps them fresher longer in this crazy season, i would like favors and kanter to get a little more minutes to even it out, but if you think about it with an 11 man rotation we get more rest foreveryone because we need it. this season, next season, sure cut it down, but this season we need to have a better balance of minutes and i think ty is don’t alright with it, but big al might break down if he doesn’t lose 5 to 10 minutes a night

9-10 man rotation

Gives minutes to Favors, Kanter, and Burks to help develop. He can still get the other 3 guys to come in when one of the 9 needs rest.

Whats with mark jackson?

U guys seems hate him

we hate him because he's a douche bag

http://jazzfanatical.wordpress.com/utah-jazz-blogs/why-we-hate-mark-jackson

I love that it is clearly titled "why we hate mark jackson"

wouldn’t it be so much easier to point someone to an article like this when people bring up fisher.

You know what?

I’m planning to write it this coming week as a kind of odd Lakers game preview.

Then we can point to it.

Why don't we just call the bench:

The Jazz Ensemble.

Doesn’t always have to be a mob, or crew. Doesn’t have to be something related to names. (Name / Letter based nicknames are played out. Was cool for C-Webb, not so cool for 400 people in the NBA)

Hmmm

Jazz Ensemble = JE=G= Gangsta

Gangsta Funkmiesters

a little ‘jazz’ with some attitude

I kind of like this.
acid jazz

TMNT! NINJA TURTLES AND MASTER SPLINTER

How about "Earl Watson's Hot Five?"

(See “Louis Armstrong’s Hot Five”)

has anyone noticed

The guys we have traded have ended up going downhill from the point that we traded them? D-will has shown some sparks of why he was an all-star, but he still hasn’t gotten out of his funk (imagine if he was still on the jazz, we might not have these 4 wins). Same with Okur, i read somewhere that he was having back spasms or something. Go Jazz front office ;) trading them right at the point where they are worth the most before they start declining.

Yeah...

I wonder if DWill’s wrist is still bothering him.

Oh, and to quote a random member of NetsDaily on tonight's gamethread:
Everyone we get from the Jazz is hurt…

Heaven forbid they sign AK47, lol.
