i actually have thought that steve nash played a lot like stockton since he went to phoenix
nash a little bit better penetrator, and more willing scorer. both nash and stockton have an unreal sense of spacing on the court at all time which allows precision pinpoint (amazing) passing, often threading a needle.
stockton clearly the better defender, and he played much more physical than nash. they both shot the 3 pointer well.
its interesting to me that they are so similar because the styles that their teams played were so different. the difference in pace is enormous. the improvement in nash after he went to phoenix still astounds me.
obviously magic johnson has similar qualities to both of these guys. being 6’ 8" and as gifted with court vision is an incredible asset.
- tough
- plays both ends
- superb passer
- similar physique
- super competitive
- great shooter
- high IQ
- clutch
Nash is slightly more skilful but has never played at anywhere near the defensive level of Stockton. Rubio can’t shoot. Kidd’s too big, too slow and yet still is a far better rebounder, and could never shoot consistently well off the dribble. Easily it’s Chris Paul.
I have only seen Rubio's highlights...
but he seem more of a Nash than a Stockton.
