Hat tip to Salt City Hoops for catching this, but it looks like the new floor for the ESA looks like this:
As some wisely pointed out before, we could see the green paint and two-tone wood floor from the NBA2K11 screen shots posted earlier. It looks like we will be getting the new logo for center court. I thought I had read that it was still going to be the mountain logo because it had to be the primary logo on the court.
I'm a fan though. My hope in all of the jersey/color/floor changes is that they leave it as is and don't change things again down the road. There's something to be said about teams that have had the same jersey/logo since their inception.
Another question is why haven't they unveiled the new court yet? It was supposed to be done a couple of months ago on draft night but then got put off. We have yet to hear anything on when it will be unveiled officially.
Thanks to moni for this link. In moni's words, it's "AK either launching new shoe or starring in community production of Cinderella,"
It's all in Russian (where Google Video Translate when you need it?). My biggest question is did they purposely use Eye of the Tiger as the intro music? Really?
Anyone that can translate?
I don't know what to think of this video of Stockton highlights (via SLAM). Behind the back passing? Alley-oops? A freaking spin move? Worlds colliding.

Gordon Hayward with the question of our time,
If you want to start a fake Hayward twitter account, there's your idea: Deep thoughts by G Hayward. Other questions you might ask: Why can't snow be warm? Why can't vegetables taste like chocolate? Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near?
Tuesday poll,

I can neither confirm nor deny that I have seen the new court in its entirety butit does look exactly like the photo above. Green paint in the key, yellow writing under the basket and in front of the benches, and the navy blue around the sidelines.

That's not the Energy Solutions Logo
Or, at least, not the current ESA logo. Is that getting revamped, too? Or is the Radium Stadium getting yet another new name?

It's the Larry Miller Court logo
Basketball John - August 31, 2010
looks like it’s Larry H. Miller’s signature above the ESA logo.

Jump to the 1:30 mark. Holy cow. And then at 2:30. Other than the Houston shot I’ve never seen Johnny with that much emotion.

surprisingly, I remember Stockton even dribbling between his legs on crossovers on the rare occasion. Mostly later in his career, but it definitely happened every now and then. He just wasn’t flashy about it.

I still get chills
when I see or think about the shot to send the Jazz to the Finals. I never realized or paid attention to the fact that Charles “Turrible” Barkley was the one to half-contest the shot. That just brings an even bigger smile to my face and more appreciation for it.

The only thing I wish
Was that John had made that game winner against the Rockets at home. I think Salt Lake would have rioted.

Looks like most of you receive more creative Christmas and birthday gifts than I do. (Not that I’m complaining.)

The crossovers and score on MJ, I was like F__K ME!!
I enjoyed that video more than ANY other so far.
LoWBlok - August 31, 2010
There's a head fake and layup at 1:55 in that video that is AMAZING
I swear the crowd all shift to the left, let alone the defenders.

Video of AK in Moscow...
He just signed with Adidas (I believe he was with Nike before) so all they talked about is the shoe and it’s features and how some other players like Derrick Rose have been with the “adidas family” but they are “most proud to have Andrei promote them of course..”
They talked about different features of the shoe how it has some 5 “pillows” on the bottom of the shoe helping support the foot and all the movements that are involved and AK took the mic and confirmed that with the SF position that he plays it is very important to have that support with all the many sudden movements (stopping and going) that the position involves. The video stops at the most important part however when the media and general public was invited to ask him questions, the first question was something like “when are you gonna come back to play here?” and he started to answer “well, right now I’m still under contract with the Utah Jazz…” and at that point the video stops. Not that he would throw out a crazy answer like “once my contract is done next year I’m coming home to Russia for sure!” but it would’ve still been interesting to hear what he had to say and maybe try to pick up on what he might be thinking in terms of staying or leaving. Oh well, if anyone can find the continuation of this video I’d be happy to listen and translate..

Ok, as the resident Sneakerhead around here I’m on the hunt for that shoe. It’s a TS series, but I’m not sure which model exactly. I’ll hunt it down.
The ‘5 pillows’ refer to the cushioning system adidas use on their TS Basketball shoes.

dear resident sneakerhead,
i expect a full write-up, including pictures, diagrams, and explanations on how the shoe will help prevent AK from getting injured.

Does it cover his hamstring?

Much appreciated.

The joy of watching Stockton play
One of the little things I always loved to see Stockton do is what I will admiringly call the Sidewinder Run. He would run up the court on a break with his dribbling arm cocked back ready to zip a pass down court if the opportunity were presented. It was almost as if he were running sideways at a very rapid pace with a slingshot wound tight and ready to let fly. To boot, he was freakishly accurate on the delivery of those bullet passes. Every time I saw him run like that I couldn’t help but be excited with anticipation of some new mind-blowing pass perfectly placed for his teammate. The Sidewinder Run was and still is an absolute joy to behold.
Much to my delight, I’ve noticed that Deron has started doing the Sidewinder Run too.

That is the single best description of that move ever
The Sidewinder Run. GENIUS!
Something I try and emulate myself, and it WORKS, let me tell you. And yes, DWill has been doing it; I think that maybe Horny has been showing him some old tapes of the glory days for homework…
Do you mind if I steal and re-use that description?
TazzJazzFan - September 1, 2010
I don't mind at all
I’m flattered actually. Thanks!
